RESTORE-A-GARAGE EPOXY APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSWeather Conditions: Ensure the surface temperature is between 45ºF and 95ºF. Avoid application of product when the daily low is below 45 or when rain is expected within 12 hours. Do not apply in direct sunlight.
NOTE: It is best to work from the far back of the work area when applying the epoxy. Do not stand or walk on the epoxy during the application process or immediately following the application unless you are wearing the proper application spiked shoes. Protect Adjacent Areas: Use plastic, cardboard, and/or drop cloths to protect all adjacent non-target surfaces.
Equipment: Flat Squeegee, Drill, Drill Mixer Paddle, Roller.
- Make sure you have enough product for the area that is to be coated.
- Carefully remove the lid from the pail.
- Remove the can marked Part B from the cradle.
- Remove the cradle from the pail and discard it.
- Carefully remove the lock ring from the can and open the can.
Important Note: If the color you choose came in a tint pack (not pre-mixed into Part A) add this to the Part A first and mix for two minutes (Using a drill and a drill mixer paddle) prior to adding the Part B. If the color is already pre-mixed in, proceed to Step 6.
- Pour the entire contents of Part B into the pail, Part A.
- Using a drill motor and a mixer, blend material all together for 2 minutes, carefully moving the drill around to ensure a good mix. There must be no visible Part B remaining after the mix.
- Once the product has been mixed for 2 minutes, empty entire contents of pail onto the floor to be coated within 60 seconds after the mixing is completed. Pour the entire mixture into a uniform bead onto the floor in a straight line, making certain that the width of the epoxy poured out spreads approximately 12 to 14 inches on the floor. Move quickly when pouring the line to the floor.
- Use the squeegee to spread a 3 to 5-foot wide area. Continue to spread with squeegee and backroll with the roller to apply an even, thin application. Do not over-roll. You will have 30 minutes to apply the product to the surface. The product will cure in the pail after 35–40 minutes.
- After the Epoxy has been spread into an even coating, apply the fleck by casting (with an underhand toss) it evenly and thoroughly over the coated areas. Remember to break up your areas by only coating areas small enough that you can reach by casting the fleck as you will not be able to walk onto the epoxy after it has been coated.
The optional non-slip aluminum oxide additive should be applied after applying the decorative fleck. An easy way to apply it is by placing it in a hand-held seed spreader. This will allow you to broadcast the non-slip aluminum oxide additive evenly throughout the entire area.
NOTE: If the product is left in the bucket it will react and cure within 10 minutes and will not be usable. By pouring the epoxy onto the cool concrete, it will slow down the hardening process and give you a total work time of 35 minutes.
CAUTION: The material will become extremely hot if left in the bucket for longer than 10 minutes. Do not touch the bucket or material.

3-Gallon Epoxy Kit coverage 380-480 sq. Ft. (2 1/2 car garage) at 10 mils dft (dry film thickness)
1.5-Gallon Epoxy Kit coverage 190-240 sq. Ft. (2 1/2 car garage) at 10 mils dft (dry film thickness)
DRY/CURE TIME:
A complete cure of the Epoxy coating is 24 to 48 hours at 65º F and less than 50% humidity. Do not close the garage door, walk on, or drive on until fully cured. Temperatures lower than 75° will result in longer cure times.
CLEANUP:
Clean tools immediately after each use with soap and water.

Do i need a water barrier/water shield for this product?
No, you cannot preseal with a water repellent before applying the epoxy.
How long do i wait untill applying the clear coat after i applied the epoxy garage floor?
12-18 hours after the epoxy.
The cure time instructions suggest I leave garage door open the time it cures. I live in an area where I can’t leave my garage door open the entire time. Would it be an issue if I the garage door closed?
It needs airflow to dry. Maybe leave it partially open a foot or two from the ground.
1. The kits are made for my screen porch area that is larger than my 144 SF. Can I mix less than a full kit? What happens if it is applied too thick? How many kits of what size do I need for 2 coats?
2. I assume you apply the second coat after first coat is cured. Therefore I need a second kit for the second coat. Correct?

I would like to do 3500 sq ft shop with RAG- how many 3 gal kits and how would I apply with an area so large?

I can not empty garage. would it be obvious if I do the 1.5 gal mixture 1 day and 3 days later do the other 3. Also, how do you know you are getting the correct millage applied ?
Yes, it will have an overlapping line. Use the squeegee we sell as it is notched to apply the correct millage.

Can this be applied indoor with no way to leave a garage door open during cure time? Will the off-gassing be bad?
It does have an odor but it is water-based so it is not going to linger for a long time. Many people use it indoors.
Can this be used on a patio? If so, I was planning on getting white and see that you recommend 2 coats. Is the recommend coverage one coat or two? IE, would I need to get 2 of the 3 gallon kit in white to cover 470 sq ft?
Coverage is per coat. You can use it on a covered patio. 2 of the 3 gallons kits are correct if using the white and 470 sq feet.
How about the 6 inch outside the garage door? Does the product hold up or fade in sunlight?
Most stop at the garage door so fading is not visible.
I bought the two car kit. Can I mix both kits in one bucket or do I have to mix them separately? Thanks

Is this a water-based epoxy or resin-based epoxy? Trying to understand the difference.
There is no difference. The R-A-G products are 100% Solids Resin-Based Epoxy Coatings and water-soluble. There are no solvents or oils in a resin-based epoxy.
Do you have any videos showing the application process? We are planning to epoxy our 400sf garage. Do I spread the epoxy in a small section, then apply the flakes? Or spread all of the epoxy first, then spread all of the flakes? Doesn’t seem like I will have enough time to keep stopping to flake each section before the rest of it starts hardening. 35 minutes goes quickly.
We do not have any videos. Very easy to apply. Do all the epoxy first and then walk in with the spiked shoes and broadcast the flecks on the epoxy right away.
I’m planning to apply RAG to an indoor commercial kitchen. I can control the indoor ambient temperature to a limited degree.
You cannot be in the kitchen or building until it fully cures and the odor dissipates. It will take longer to cure and for the odor to dissipate if the windows or doors are not open.
Hello, step 10 states that you will not be able to walk on the epoxy after is has been coated, but you can walk on it with spiked shoes, correct? I am doing a 450 sq ft garage by myself so I assume I will have to apply the epoxy, walk on it to be able to cast the fleck throughout the garage, and then walk on it again to dust with the aluminum oxide. I’m not sure how I would be able to do the floor in sections if I have already poured the entire amount all over the floor to get it out of the bucket. I don’t know where I’d be able to have the fleck and the seeder with aluminum oxide at my disposal while moving around the garage applying the epoxy.
Yes, you can use the spiked shoes to walk on and cast the fleck and grit after applying the epoxy.
should I grind my concrete floor first and should I roll a primer coat before I apply the epoxy?
Grind if needed but never use a primer before an epoxy.
I’ll have 2, 3gal. Buckets to use. Do I mix both at the same time? Or spread one and then the other evening out the “line” where they mix? I can’t picture the process in my mind. And immediately after spreading, you can walk with the spiked shoes to spread the flakes?
Mix both at same time or have someone mixing the second container while the first is being applied. You can use the spiked shoes to walk on it while wet.

No, it can be broadcast in top after applying only.
